What is a Camshaft Position Sensor?
The Camshaft Position Sensor (also known as a Phase Sensor) detects the rotational position of the camshaft in real time and sends a signal to the ECU (Engine Control Unit). Based on this signal, the ECU precisely controls ignition timing and fuel injection timing.
It is a critical sensor that supports accurate combustion cycles. In high-performance engines such as Ferrari and Maserati, even a slight timing deviation can directly affect performance.
Common Symptoms of Failure
- Check engine light illumination
- Unstable idling / hunting
- Hesitation during acceleration / loss of torque
- Difficulty starting / stalling
- Increased fuel consumption
If any of the above symptoms occur, we recommend early diagnosis and replacement. Leaving the issue unaddressed may lead to secondary damage to the engine.
